Manulife AM Keeps Generating Consistent Returns for Investors, Making 16th Dividend Payment for MS-EQ DIV at THB 0.30/Unit
Bangkok – Manulife Asset Management (Thailand) has announced the 16th dividend payment for MS-EQ DIV at THB 0.30 per share. In just five years after its inception on 28 August 2009, the fund has paid a total accumulative dividend of THB 10.45 per unit, which represents an accumulative dividend yield of 104.50% (based on the IPO price of THB 10 per unit). The ex-dividend (XD) date is set for July 17 and payment will be made by July 24.
Mr Tor Indhavivadhana, chief executive officer of Manulife Asset Management (Thailand) (“Manulife AM”) revealed that MS-EQ DIV has invested in 25 to 30 high-yield stocks with good fundamentals, especially large-caps stocks on the Thai stock exchange. Its key strategy involves buying when the stock prices are below the fundamental values.
“Sentiments in the Thai stock market have improved markedly following the takeover of the National Council for Peace and Order on May 22 and its constant introduction of short- and medium-term economic stimulus measures which are aimed at improving Thailand’s infrastructures and boosting domestic consumption. The resulting confidence among local and foreign investors has led to substantial net “buy” by foreign investors over the past month. Most investors expect an accelerated economic growth in the second half of this year, after the economy experienced stagnation over late last year through the beginning of this year.”
“Thailand’s economic recovery will likely contribute to a brighter outlook and faster growthin 2015. The streamlined systematic implementation of mega-projects in the public sector will benefit SET-listed firms, especially those related to domestic consumption and investment. To enjoy decent returns in the long run, investors should consider putting more money in equity funds, such as MS-EQ DIV. Alternatively, they could also invest in tax-saving long-term equity funds (LTFs), provided they study carefully and meet the requirements set by the Revenue Department.”
