Besides, with its purpose to improve renewable energy automotive through electric vehicles, the Company cooperates with BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd., a leading battery and electrical vehicle manufacturer from China, to launch the “electric bus and passenger cars” for the first time in Thailand. The first two models to be launched in Thai market are K9 electric bus and e6 electric passenger car.
“The Company has studied about the development of electric vehicle for quite a while until it is assured that Thai market is ready for the use of electric vehicles. Therefore, the Company selected the two models of electric bus and passenger cars from BYD to enter the market. The Company is confident in the quality, performance and safety of BYD’s electric vehicles. In addition, these electric vehicles do not bring about air pollution, and also helps save energy, resulting in decreasing import for fuel from foreign countries. Another distinguished trait of electric vehicles is lower maintenance cost when compared to other fuel-consuming vehicles. And more importantly, the batteries are reusable after the minimum use of 15 years, such as in the form of spare batteries. Therefore, they will not be burden for environment,” said Dr. Kosol.
K9 Electric Bus: It is a low-floor electric bus with 12 meters in length. Its body is made of aluminum alloy, hence lower weight and rust free. Its driving system is 180 kw AC electric motor, yielding approximately 250 horse power. It is equipped with air suspension system, and the battery used is Lithium Fe, with the capacity of 324 kw per hour and the charging time is approximately 5 hours, yielding the driving range of over 250 km. per a single charge. Therefore, the average use of electric is approximately 1.2 kwh/km, or approximately 4 Baht per km., and the maximum speed is 70 km. per hour.
e6 Passenger car: This is 5 seat passenger cars, with the dimension of 4.560/1.822/1.645 meters (length/width/ height) and the wheel base of 2.830 meters. Its driving system is 90 kw AC electric motor, yielding approximately 121 horsepower. The battery used is Lithium Fe, with the capacity of 61.4 kw per hour and the charging time is approximately 2 hours, yielding the driving range of over 300 km. per a single charge. Therefore, the average use of electric is approximately 0.13 kwh/km, or approximately 0.5 Baht per km., and the maximum speed is 140 km. per hour.
According to Dr. Kosol, the marketing strategy will focus on the solution covering the procurement of electric buses and cars, as well as financial management support, after-sales service, procurement of spare parts both during the warrantee period and after the warrantee period so that the customers can be assured of the service during all time of usage. As for the target group, at the initial stage, the focus will be made on government and private organizations. The customers of electric buses include government agencies, state enterprises, schools and universities, etc., while the customers of electric cars include government agencies, state enterprise, rental car companies, metered taxi and hotels, etc.

There is also a plan to expand the central charging stations in Bangkok and vicinity to meet the customers’ demand.
Dr. Kosol also stated that, at Company’s initial sales targets included approximately 200 electric buses and 200 electric cars. The Company believes that the current government’s policy to promote the use of electric cars will boost the sales to achieve continuous growth in the first few years. Particularly, it is expected that electric buses will be very well accepted. Therefore, it is possible to launch other models. In addition, the Company also has a future plan to invest in establishing the electric bus manufacturing to meet the domestic market growth.
