Seedstars Thailand, 31st of May 2017

Bangkok, Thailand, May 16th, 2017 – Seedstars World , the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, is returning to Thailand on May 31st. In line with its mission to place the spotlight on entrepreneurs from emerging markets, Seedstars World is travelling to more than 70 countries this year to identify the best seed-stage entrepreneurs and provide them with an opportunity to win up to USD 1 million and network with investors and mentors from around the world.
Its previous participants have raised over USD 61M collectively, providing employment to more than 835 employees worldwide. The companies selected to pitch at the Seedstars Bangkok event need to be less than 2 years old, have raised less than USD 500,000 in funding and have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction. The Seedstars World team is searching for one additional criterion – the startup’s regional and global scalability. With a strong network of international partners such as BBVA, Merck, Enel, TRECC, Standard Bank, and Deloitte, Seedstars World is looking for innovative startups that solve regional issues and develop profitable products for the global market, with the aim of supporting the growth of these businesses. “Seedstars World is a platform connecting investors to the next generation of entrepreneurs, outside of Silicon
Valley and Western Europe. This will be our 3rd time organizing our event in Thailand, and given the bustling nature of the startup ecosystem, we expect the quality of the startups to be very high.” explains Nick Feneck, Regional Manager at Seedstars World, “We are excited to be coming back, and cannot wait to discover this year’s most promising Thai tech startups.” In order to provide local entrepreneurs with this opportunity and aiming to deliver the best possible event, Seedstars World is working closely with Nichapat Ark, an angel investor and startup mentor, who is representing the Seedstars initiative throughout the year. “The breadth and depth of ideas and talent in Thailand’s startup ecosystem has been growing by leaps and bounds in the few short years since its inception. The quality of startups emerging from this environment now rivals that of our regional and global peers, and I think Seedstars World is a perfect stage on which to showcase that quality,” explains Nichapat Ark. Further support is provided by Digital Ventures, subsidiary of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) , as well as, Siam Cement Group, Mitr Phol, Siam Piwat, and Bangkok Venture Club, to source the best startups from the
country, and by Silk Legal, who will provide their legal advisory services to the top three startups selected at Seedstars Bangkok.
