‘AI’ changing future of business-industries,
The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) has often been used over the last two to three years, but it seems as if AI has received more attention from all organizations and companies this year. In fact, the AI stage at Techsauce Global Summit 2018, the largest international tech conference in Southeast Asia, got overwhelming attention from attendees.
Ms.Oranuch Lerdsuwankij, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Techsauce Media Co Ltd, the organizer of Techsauce Global Summit, commented that AI topics gained a lot of attention from attendees literally because:
- People want to know more about AI. The summit has made it clear that people in general do not understand thoroughly what AI is, what AI is related to and how AI affects their lives and businesses.
“People probably started to become aware of AI from Siri, a human language personal assistant on smart phones, but they might not know what else AI can do. They might not know the real meaning of other related terms such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Big Data and Data Analysis. So this year there has been much discussion over what lies ahead for AI. Even smartphone manufacturers use AI to develop selfie technology to respond to the consumers’ demands. This should be the reason why people want to learn more about AI,” said Ms.Oranuch.
- People want to collect in-depth information related to their businesses. AI can be connected to every business sector such as smartphone manufacturing, property development, e-commerce, insurance and other industries. Hence, the AI stage could attract a significant amount of people from every business and every industry who are keen at gathering in-depth information to further develop their business.
- AI can collect data other industries and apply them. AI has played a more significant role in business and industries in terms of Chatbot, supporting sales and marketing, CRM, and Big Data that support decision-making more smartly and accurately. This should be another reason for businesspeople to learn about AI so that they can apply it or use it to further develop their businesses and startups.
Ms.Oranuch added that the giants in all business sectors, the world-class startups and those startups in ASEAN are currently interested in AI development. For example, China’s Xinhua news agency reported that the investment in AI technology in China was as high as USD28 billion (approximately 931 billion baht) in 2017. In addition, the majority of the over 200 startups from 20 countries competing in the Techsauce Global Summit 2018 pitching contest are AI-related startups. One of these actually won the special grand pitching prize. She believes that AI will be the important factor that will change all the business sectors and industries soon.
AI is also one of the factors that reflect the growth of Deep Tech in the world’s business and industrial sectors. With the strong determination to improve the region’s and Thailand’s Tech Ecosystem, Techsauce plans to consecutively include Deep Tech and AI stages in Techsauce Global Summit 2019 in order to support those sectors that are searching for AI knowledge for their personal and professional development.

Techsauce Global Summit 2018 was an international tech conference with a focus on fulfilling knowledge, building a business network, and connecting entrepreneurs, investors and other parties together. The event comprised of 10 stages with over 200 discussion topics conducted by over 200 speakers from leading organizations around the world. Adding to this was the Startup Pitching competition that gathered star startups from across Asia-Oceania. More than 10,000 attendees who paraded into the summit included corporates in search for new innovations, brands preparing themselves for the digital transformation, entrepreneurs, startups and tech enthusiasts.
